6 weeks ago I had a breast lift with augmentation. I received Mentor Smooth Saline Implants @ 150 cc in each breast.

My experience: My surgeon urged me to get saline. They claimed it felt no different, and it was a safer option, so that’s why I went with saline. To be honest, they are a little hard. They told me they felt no different than silicone. I have nothing to compare it to, but I don’t believe that’s true.

After surgery, I wasn’t in much pain due to the meds. Those only last about four days though. Afterwards, they were pressurized/sore/uncomfortable until the 4-5 week mark. Ibuprofen/acetaminophen helped a lot.

I was recommended by the surgeon to purchase surgical bras off of Amazon. They recommend a size M, but that was way too tight, so they moved me up to a size XL which was much more comfortable. They are much better than the ones you get from the surgery center.

My breasts were extremely itchy. The itchiness lasted about 3-4 weeks. They were very dry, and my skin was flaking. I also had a lot of bruising, with minimal bruising still persisting today. I still have a lot of redness/spider veining. The stitches started to fall out at around 3-4 weeks. I have no feeling in my nipple. The other is tingly.

I have eczema and dermatitis, and my skin did present a rash after the surgery due to the chemicals used. I already had clobetasol, and my surgeon said that’s what I should use, but not on my incisions. My rash went away.

My skin is not very elastic, and I did notice additional stretch marks. They are very minimal.

I am posting my results because when I was researching online, I couldn’t find anyone that received a lift with small-sized implants.

I really wanted a lift and to have my areola size reduced, but I didn’t want to lose too much volume from the lift. Since my one breast was smaller than the other, the surgeon had to remove more tissue from the larger breast to match the smaller one. I wanted to at least maintain my larger breast’s size. We opted for a small implant. I told them they could go up to 250 cc, but to make them look like teardrops, full, juicy, and natural.

Honestly, I liked the way they looked when they were swollen. I was hesitant with implants for many reasons, and I didn’t want to look huge and unnatural. However, I didn’t want to get a lift and look deflated due to the tissue removal. This is why I opted for implants. I wanted them to fill me out to my original size. I’m glad I did, because had I not, I would’ve been disappointed with the size, especially since, looking back, I would’ve wanted even larger. I can’t imagine not doing the small implants.

However, I wouldn’t have wanted any larger implants because I most definitely would’ve incurred many more stretch marks. Definitely not something I thought about since puberty, so I forgot how prone my body is to stretch marks.

Some things I would recommend thinking about if I were to give advice to anyone looking to have this procedure would be: know what size your want, realistically think about your skin/body and how it’s reacted in the past to stretching/surgery, go to a renowned doctor who has expertise in exactly what you want, and tell your doctor EVERYTHING. Even if you think they’ll take offense to your expectations/requests, you need to communicate exactly how you want your breasts. Don’t leave it up in the air. Surgeons are basically artists. Give them direction. Not everyone has the same idea of what “perfect” breasts are, and you want to end up with what \*you\* want your breasts to be. Not what someone else thinks. I definitely annoyed the heck out of my surgeon with inspiration photos, areola size and height preferences, and questions/concerns about saline vs silicone.

I have not yet started any scar treatment. I have not used any lotions/tapes on the scars. The surgeon said we will discuss scar care next week.

I would say I got about 80% of what I wanted. I feel like my one aereola size/shape is perfect, but my other looks like a sucked-in teardrop. Also, one nipple is pointing up while the other is pointing straight. The areolas are sitting higher than desired, and my lift is not as “lifted” as I wanted. I also feel that my one breast is still smaller than the other.

However, these nit-picky things don’t mean I’m unhappy. I just want anyone who reads this to know that while you may not get perfect-looking breasts, and you may notice these little things, as long as you communicate and have an understanding surgeon, you will still end up with beautiful breasts. I urge you to not have any regrets about not saying something. If you’ve said everything and communicated clearly, you know you did all you could to get the best outcome for you, but that doesn’t mean it will turn out exactly as you desire as nothing in life is perfect. I’m very happy with the outcome, and I don’t regret it at all.
