Hi, so I know this sounds kinda weird but I need some advice concerning my cats. So I’ve lived with my parents my entire life, I move wherever they move even when it’s inconvenient/really far away from where we used to live. Recently though they’ve wanted to make a big move to a city that’s about 7 hours away, and I made the decision to stay where I am and I’ll be moving in with a friend. The issue is our cats. Now originally since I’m kinda the one who takes care of/spends time with them the most, I was thinking of taking all three— but knowing how slightly shitty my financial situation will be, my mom and I agreed I should maybe only take 1 or 2 (the cats will be fine, my parents said they’ll pay for medical expenses/food and litter)

Here’s kinda where I’m stuck. Now my mom agreed to take Archie (orange) since he’s the oldest and he should stay with her, but now I’m stuck deciding on whether to take Beau (tuxedo) or Rocky (grey). Thing is I love them both so much, they’re like sons to me! But they don’t get along at all and no matter how much I hope that the new move can get them to chill, I worry that’s just not gonna happen. So now I know I should only take one, but I just don’t know who to pick.

Rocky is super easy to care for, he’s friendly and playful and he’s not picky at all when it comes to food and litter. Everyone who meets him says he’s a sweetheart. Issue is he hates being alone, he screams and cries constantly whenever we leave the apartment and he has a habit of getting into cabinets and destroying stuff, and I worry that in our new apartment he might find his way into something he’s not supposed to when we’re gone and get hurt.

On the other hand, Beau is like my baby. I raised him since he was a kitten— he’s polite but not really social, it takes time for him to build up trust but when he does he becomes the sweetest cat. Issue is he has a lot of health problems, some that could be attributed to stress but it causes him to be very picky and difficult. I’m not fully sure what I would do if the new apartment causes him even more stress, but I’m also scared that a 6 hour move would stress him out even more. Objectively he’d do best as an only child, but what if I’m not as equipped as I think I am to take care of him?

Honestly, I just need advice. I asked my mom, and aside from saying she’d take Archie she hasn’t been much help. She loves all three of them, and sometimes suggests that she takes all three but I don’t want to just get rid of all of them. I asked my friend if there’s any she’d prefer, but she told me she loves all three and supports whatever decision I make. But idk what decision to make! I feel like I’m being told to pick my favourite from my kids, and I’m scared that I’ll lose my bond with whichever I don’t pick. Has anyone dealt with this before? It feels like there is a correct answer but I just don’t know, and the longer I think of it the sadder I get. I don’t want to leave my boys behind :(

Help! I need advice :(
