Are standalone Rolex boutiques killing the "pre-spend" game?
Hey everyone, a bit new to the game here.
I’m based in a major city in Asia and have been on the waitlist at two separate ADs for several months now.
From what I’ve gathered locally, Rolex HQ is cracking down on ADs using their watches as leverage to push other jewelry or watch brands. To enforce this, they are restricting ADs, forcing them to remodel and operate out of strict, Rolex-only standalone boutiques.
Here is the interesting part: I directly asked both ADs about pre-spending to build history, and they outright denied that the practice even exists. This is wild considering how rampant it was here just a few years ago before the policy changes.
With this shift to dedicated locations and their strict denials, how do you even build purchase history now? Is the traditional "pre-spend" game actually dead, or has it just evolved behind the scenes?
Curious to hear if anyone else is seeing this trend in their region and what your recent experiences have been!
