Is it fair to be annoyed slightly by gender questions or am I overreacting?

Sorry but what is the older generation’s obsession with gender. I’m 9 weeks pregnant. I don’t know the gender yet. Me and my husband had a conversation about it in passing and we both said that we’ll be equally happy if it’s a boy or a girl since it’s our first so no expectations!! We’re just excited.

I just find people’s obsession with gender a bit… unsettling? I’ve been bombarded with questions like ‘oh what do you want your baby’s gender to be? What does your husband want? What’s your intuition? Bla bla bla’ list goes on. Plus even if we have an expectation for a certain gender i wouldn’t go reveal that to like random people? That is something personal. It just makes me uncomfortable. Hardly anyone asked if i feel supported? Idk if it’s valid for me to feel this way. Curious if anyone else had this experience?
