We built an AI that automatically fixes CI/CD and production incidents (Gemini 3 Hackathon project)
We built a project for the Gemini 3 Hackathon called DevOps Guardian.
It’s basically an autonomous Site Reliability Engineer.
The idea was simple:
Instead of monitoring tools that only alert you when something breaks, we wanted an AI system that could detect the issue, debug it, write the fix, test it, and open a PR automatically.
So we built DevOps Guardian.
The autonomous loop
1. Monitor
Streams logs from production and CI/CD pipelines.
2. RCA Agent
Uses Gemini 3 Pro to analyse stack traces and understand the codebase.
3. Patch Agent
Uses Gemini 3 Flash to generate a code fix.
4. Verify Agent
Runs the patch inside an isolated sandbox to test it.
5. Resolve
Creates a pull request and sends a Slack notification.
So instead of:
The system tries to fix the issue automatically.
Things it can do
- Auto-heal CI/CD pipeline failures
- Detect production incidents from logs
- Run AI-driven root cause analysis
- Generate and test patches in a sandbox
- Send Slack notifications with approval workflows
We also built simulation scripts so you can trigger incidents and watch the AI investigate them in real time through a terminal-style dashboard.
Tech stack
Frontend: Next.js + Tailwind
Backend: Node.js + Express + Socket.io
DB: PostgreSQL + Prisma
AI: Gemini 3 Pro + Flash
Sandbox: E2B
We actually missed the hackathon submission because of a timezone misunderstanding (thought the deadline was PM, it was AM Pacific Time 😅).
But the project turned out pretty interesting, so we decided to share it anyway.
Would love feedback from people working in DevOps / SRE.
