Hamnet or Frankenstein might be this year's audience flop

If you were around at all during the Emilia Perez awards cycle you know how badly that film got bodied online and at the meme factory and it kept winning awards. I was so confused. I personally did not vibe at all with the movie (big Ariana fan so you can tell where my loyalties lie) I figured this must be a trend so I did some digging.

I found some data that kind of aligned with my thinking, it scored movies based on the audience vs critic reception and find it so funny that majority of the movies I hated this season were on the list. I'm patiently waiting for Sunday to see if my theories are correct but from what I read I think Hamnet or Frankenstein might be the next "flop". Even if it sweeps awards. Opinions on these movies are split right now and I definitely would classify them as mid-level flops than full blown hatred. Lots of people loved, others kinda split. But basically:

Hamnet has 11 nominations and an average audience reception score of 82 (Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic etc) and then Frankenstein has 8 noms with a reception score of 81. Those seem high at first but I guess anything lower than 90 or 85 MINIMUM does in fact seem to be a trend. Idk if Jacob Elordi can save this. And to show the other end of the spectrum, Sinners which I think will smash the awards has 16 noms and a 92 reception score. Marty Supreme is also up there.

Which film(s) are you holding out hope for?
