Why is perfume collecting looked down upon?

Ive been in quite a few hobbyist groups, watches, cars, shoes, keyboards. None of them would have negative comments for having excessive number of collections unlike in perfumes. You do get quite a few comments in watch collecting if you buy too many within a short time frame.

Whenever i see a huge haul of perfumes theres always the “excessive consumerism” and “you have a problem comments.

Whats so different about perfumes and other hobbies?
