I wrote a children's book to help kids cope with losing a pet
Losing a pet can be one of the first big heartbreaks a child experiences. For many kids, their dog or cat is their best friend.
I recently wrote a children's picture book called Still My Best Friend to help kids process that loss in a gentle and comforting way. The story follows a young child remembering their beloved pet and learning that love doesn't disappear just because someone is gone.
I tried to write it in a way that helps children talk about grief, memories, and the idea that the bond with a pet never truly goes away.
I know how difficult this moment can be for families, so my hope is that the book can help open conversations and bring a little comfort.
If anyone here is helping a child through the loss of a pet, I'd be happy to share the book with you.
I'm curious as to what has helped Reddit parents help their child cope through this type of grief?
Thanks for reading.
