For video game announcements, what do you think the longest duration from announcement to release is acceptable?

Better Ask Reddit

I think if you plan to announce a new video game series and even show game footage, you should plan to release that game in no more than 3 years after that point. I think thats the point that people start to go stir crazy, see Silksong.

Dont announce ES6 in 2018 if you didnt start really working on it till after starfield in 2023.

Dont announce FF13 Versus with gameplay footage in 2006 only to release it as FF15 in 2016.

We know these kind of games are being worked on, but dont do your formal announcement with no plans in place.

Maybe yall are much more patient than me, but there eventually comes a point that all hype dies and i would have rather not even had it in the brain till i can look forward to an imminent release.
