Eloise's 'past lover'

In the books, Phillip had no problem with Eloise having had a past lover, and he did say that to her. I feel the show has set this up as a subplot for her season by introducing 'you know who'. I have a strong feeling he’ll return, not for a love triangle, but for some kind of push-pull dynamic between Eloise and Phillip. This can be interesting if done right.

The next season being away from the marriage mart doesn’t necessarily mean it will be entirely set in the countryside. It might start that way when they first marry, but Eloise’s arc from the previous season sounds like it’s leading toward her becoming more involved with societies and like-minded people. I’m not sure exactly how that will come about, but I don’t see her endgame being writing feminist articles/running a school in the countryside. Show Phillip also clearly travels and collects plants. I think we’ll still get a fair bit of urban Mayfair in their season, and because of that, 'you know who' showing up in the feminist circles Eloise becomes involved in seems very likely.
