Will God Not Bless Me If I'm Not Listening To My Ex-friends?

I repented of my sins and now have a relationship with God. Something my ex-friend told me still replays in my mind and I can't seem to shake it. My ex-friend told me that God isn't going to bless me unless I'm obeying God. A couple former friends believe I'm disobeying God for leaving the Baptist church that I previously attended to attend the Methodist church. I've talked to God about my feeling and I feel at peace with my decision.
