"Got to Get You Into My Life" is just so crisp and catchy.
I recently wrote about why this is a song that moves me and figured you all might agree...
Got to Get You Into My Life by The Beatles
I’ve waited long enough, it’s time for The Beatles. If I’m not careful I might scrap this whole “Songs That Move You” thing and starting writing only about their songs. Maybe that would help me reach the sought after double digit Substack subscriber mark.
Someday.
Anyway, I’m happy to be sharing with you one of my favorite songs by The Beatles. (And by one of favorite songs by The Beatles, I mean like…top 30.)
This song is such a joy.
Every time I listen to Revolver I’m always surprised how clean and well produced it is. It came out SIXTY years ago. How does it sound so good?
It comes in at less than two and a half minutes:
It kicks off with some horns and accompanying hi-hat that just sets a punchy, poppy groove. Then we dive into the first two lines
I was alone, I took a ride
I didn't know what I would find there
The elongated, beautifully sung there is just exquisite. The most you listen, the more you’ll have fun joining in and singing it to. Thereeeeeeeeeeeee.
The chorus?
Ooh, you were meant to be near me
Ooh, and I want you to hear me
Say we'll be together every day
If you thought the there was fun to sing, just wait until you get in your first few reps of Ooh.
I don’t think there’s a deep dive needed on the lyrics in this one. It’s short, it’s punchy, it’s catchy, and it’ll have you singing Ooh all through your day.
Enjoy.
