Issue with crashing and freezing when i use another tab

I have 2 monitors and whenever i tab out to another monitor or when i click onto the tab on my second monitor both screens turn off and then reconnect like when i first start up my pc. Then whatever game im running at the time will enter a crash reporter before inevitably crashing, is there any fixes for this?
