2 years and 3 months, still feeling it sometimes

We were together for 8 years. I am pretty much healed from it, but sometimes it still stings. Every so often. I'm now 30, coming up to 31, and I keep thinking... Will I ever meet someone else? I know statistically yes it's possible. I just know I won't meet anyone just like her.

I miss all the little things, are shared hobbies, our friends... That I don't see at all now. Our silly little passions, dreams and our inside jokes. It's all gone now, we haven't contacted eachother in what will almost be a year in a couple of months or so. It's crazy.

I turned to religion for a while to deal with the breakup. Most of my self-healing and meaning came from that. But now that I'm an atheist I'm left with the cold hard fact that this is it, it's done. A lot of the arguments we had were due to my turning to religion more and more (I was going through a hell of a lot of issues with everything at the time).

I'm making a life for myself, but I lost everything a few years back, a flat, job, friends, my ex, I had to move back in with my Mum. I was at absolute ground zero. I had nothing. Slowly, very slowly building it back up, living by myself and I have my own friends again now. I just feel that relationship-hole.

I had a rebound last year, and some casual connections towards the end of last year that have just left me feeling empty. I just want my person again. I have a life, I did my therapy, I have hobbies, I've reinvented myself, but I still crave deeply that person in my life.
