I don't work full time so no employer match or IRA yes?

I want to put my money to work for me but I work for myself and not always because of the fact that I am home care-taking my wife. Therefore the money I do have in a high-yield savings account and a few CDs now is fine, but I'm suggesting putting a decent amount say around 25k into something that will grow over the next 10 years and I won't need to touch it at all. I'm thinking ETFs. Just a basic index fund or ETF etc that just grows over time. I don't think I can do a Roth IRA or anything since I'm not technically working so to speak. Any thoughts?
