When disclosing is it wrong to avoid the word “herpes”?

For context I have gHSV-1, I got my first outbreak a year and a half ago and have not had an outbreak since. The other day I disclosed to a partner and it went well. I asked if knew what HSV1 was and he said no and I proceeded to explain my diagnosis, some stats, etc. I said it was the same virus that causes cold sores, however I did purposefully avoid the word “herpes”. Is this wrong to do?? It just carries so much stigma and I was worried of what he might assume if I said that word.
