PPI Fear

PPIs / H2 Blockers

I’m not new to gastritis. Have been more susceptible to it since getting covid a few years ago. NSAIDS usually trigger it after using them for months (for chronic pain unfortunately). Another flare started a month ago and I have been so down bad. Last flare had a few years ago was so horrible. So I’m scared about this one. Up until this point, I have not really even attempted to utilize PPI’s or H2 blockers. I know I know. The anxiety and horror stories just made me too scared to stick with it for more than a day or two. But I now desperate this time. I do not want to suffer as long as I did last time.

So I took my first dose of PPI today. Omeprazole 20 mg. I’m honestly just scared of making anything worse. I tried Pepcid for a few days before now and I think it helped but not enough. But it seemed to ease up the bloating and actually make me feel hunger. Could just use some encouragement that aren’t horror stories. Maybe from those who had pretty cut and dry NSAID induced gastritis? I understand all meds have risks. It’s why I never take them. I am more than informed on the risks. I could just use some good stories.
