Why do “copyright trolls” do what they do exactly?
“Copyright trolls” are overly litigious ding dongs who take anyone to court or report their channel for copyright over use of an IP they don’t own.
Now I know one answer is going to be “for the cash, duh!”. However, many of these “trolls” do so for properties that are hardly profitable if at all.
An example (and the reason I switched my profile pic real quick) is a 1999 computer game known as “Cookie’s Bustle”, the game is abandonware and incredibly niche yet some doofus who neither worked on the game or owns it went about going on a copyright strike spree which even involved going after people who **just mentioned it.**
Shit was wild, went on for years and it took a whole ass foundation challenging him in court to finally end it. (Shout outs to the Video Game History Foundation).
In conclusion and tl;Dr: copyright trolls, but why tho?
