Hey all, hope you're all doing well 😊

Just wanted to share another passive side hustle idea here with everyone. I mentioned [**MobileXpression**](https://www.bigcattracks.com/aff_c?offer_id=19085&aff_id=21167&source=rdt) (referral) a couple days ago in my [passive income thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/HonestSideHustles/comments/1rh2lka/comment/o8i4pef/), and it seems like there were a couple of questions.

NOW I've used MobileXpression on and off for years ever since I was a phone farmer (the glory days, lol 😅)

It's always been a *weird* passive app. But if you don't mind sharing your data with market research companies for rewards, I think it's worth checking out.

Here's a breakdown of how it works and what to expect 😊

# What Is MobileXpression?

MobileXpression is a data collection app that's been around for years. And it basically pays people for sharing data about how they browse the web, the ads they see, and what they interact with.

MobileXpression is owned by comScore Inc, so basically a massive internet measurement and data collection company. They own many apps and sites like MobileXpression actually.

**BUT in a nutshell, here's how MobileXpression works**:

* You install the MobileXpression app on your smartphone
* You *must* get accepted into the panel. Not every device type or region gets accepted right away.
* Run MobileXpression in the background of your device to share data.
* Earn weekly credits as you leave the app running.
* Exchange your credits for free gift cards to companies like Amazon, Best Buy, Starbucks etc.

The main reason I've run MobileXpression on-and-off for years is that my phone doesn't always work with it. This is one of my main complaints.

BUT if it does work, you generally earn credits each week just for having the app run. I've never noticed it having a significant impact on battery life or performance, but your mileage may vary based on phone type.

🌍 **AVAILABILITY:** Note that right now, MobileXpression is available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, India and a couple other countries as far as I know.

# How Much Does MobileXpression Pay?

MobileXpression pays most people with 2 credits per week they have the app running. You need 10 credits to redeem a $5 gift card.

This means you get a $5 gift card every 5-6 weeks or so as long as you don't miss a week of activity.

💵 **$5 Bonus**: MobileXpression is running a bonus right now where you get a $5 gift card after running the app for your first week, which is pretty nice! 😊

Overall, this is a super small side hustle. But it's very easy to try out.

# What Data Is Collected?

MobileXpression says it monitors data on your mobile browsing habits, app usage, and purchasing behavior to create market research reports. It also tracks the apps you use and websites you visit.

**According to its FAQ**: "Our research software knows the names of the apps that you may have installed to send text messages or make phone calls, but we do not monitor your phone calls or text messages, nor does it record the phone numbers that you call or text. We never record or monitor your private conversations, photos, or voicemail messages."

Let's be real here though...This app collects a ton of data. Not going to try and pretend otherwise. SO you need to be comfortable with this and decide if it's worth it to you or not for occasional gift cards. I also suggest reading their privacy policy to understand fully.

# Pros & Cons

**Pros**:

* Nice $5 bonus after one week
* Super passive and easy to use
* Decent reward options
* Available on Android and iOS

**Cons**:

* Not every device qualifies for MobileXpression
* Not fully global
* You have to be okay with sharing data for this side hustle to work

Also note that the app can be a bit finicky. I.e. some people run it successfully for a few weeks, but then encounter issues. This happened to me one year and I had an account banned for no reason whatsoever.

The flip side is MobileXpression also works great for months at a time for some people. Honestly, super weird app and side hustle. I like it overall, but I'm okay with sharing my data 😅

# Final Thoughts

Anyways, I hope this MobileXpression app review helps you guys decide if this passive side hustle is worth using or not.

It's an app I've used on and off for ages. Sometimes I love it, other times it frustrates me. But hey, that's the world of passive data rewards haha.

If you like this app, I'd also check out [Nielsen Panel](https://www.bigcattracks.com/aff_c?offer_id=10233&aff_id=21167&source=rdt). This one is a little better and gets about \~$60 annually in rewards for basically the same idea. I'll create a tutorial on this one shortly too 😊

We're also adding some new ideas and hustles over at HustleBuddy.me if you guys want to search for that and find some nice freebies.

AND we recently came out with this [easy freebies mega-thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/HonestSideHustles/comments/1rjsdfw/10_easy_sign_up_freebies_running_right_now_march/) you can use too for some quick wins.

That's all for now though. Let me know if you like MobileXpression, dislike it, or have some other suggestions for people to try too.
