Addressing the comments on my spoiler thread
A lot of discussion took place in my spoiler thread where I revealed the deaths of our beloved characters in the Immortal Man film. Many people called the movie dogshit for it, and just as many people criticized them for doing so, claiming some kind of high ground over the 'depth' that dogshit-callers are apparently not seeing.
We'll call the first lot 'dogshitters' and the second lot 'highgrounders'. I'm obviously on the side of the dogshitters, because for most people, movies and television is nothing more than cheap entertainment. We're not here to take away some deep life lessons from a show about guys wearing peaky caps strolling around town in long coats and shooting people and acting tough. We're not here to be educated about moralities and we're absolutely not here to have our expectations subverted in a Game of Thrones kind of manner. We're not here to search for some 'deep lowkey meaning' underneath the incidents happening on-screen and we shouldn't have to express the ability to see layers under layers under layers under layers in the mental states of fictional characters to understand why they're doing what they're doing (which are, in this movie, very out-of-character things).
We're here because we want to have fun and we want to watch our favorite characters do epic shit. We're not here to see Arthur get killed in a very out-of-character manner by his brother. We're not here to see Ada get fire-squad killed by Nazi piece of shits. We're not here to see Tommy beg for a mercy kill from his son. Sure, some of the audience might like to see everything falling into ruin and crumbling thanks to their lachesist nature, but that does not mean you are the default audience, it just means you are the outlier.
The audience has a right to be angry and you cannot criticize them for it. If we are angry because the showmakers promised us a gift, and the gift turned out to be a slaughter of our characters, then we are justified in our anger. If we are angry because the showmakers went down the character assassination path in order to justify the bringing of an all new cast for a continued series undoubtedly being filmed for cash grab, then we are justified in our anger. Just because you are the outlier, a highgrounder who enjoyed the self-destructive nature of the film, it does not mean you can call the dogshitters fools or idiots because they came in looking for cheap entertainment and found travesty. A travesty is still a travesty even if there's layers under layers and depth within depth. It's a fucking travesty, my guy.
That concludes my rant. My final suggestion to you people would be to take the ending of Season 6 as the real conclusion of the story and ignore whatever this is. It's just made to set up the new series where Barry Keoghan will lead, and they needed a way to throw Tommy out of the picture to make it possible, and so this movie was written to kill him off. That's the whole point of it.
Enjoy.
