Officially done. Bozeman is just a theme park for the 1% now.
Just got back from the canyon and I’m honestly sick to my stomach.
I moved here in the late 2000s for the dirtbag lifestyle and found my way to a humble career. Back then nobody cared what you wore as long as you could lead a pitch. Today? I was just sandwiched between two $100k Rivians while some tech bros in pristine $900 Arc'teryx kits talked about their "equity" and where to find the best sourdough.
They weren't even looking at the ice. Just posing for the photos before heading back to their gated communities.
I stopped for a basic sandwich and coffee on the way home and it was $30. $30!! I looked around and realized I didn't see a single actual local or dirtbag. Just people who moved here three months ago to "disrupt" the vibe with a Silicon Valley salary.
The Montana I moved for was packaged and sold to the highest bidder and I’m tired of feeling like a ghost in my own town. Seriously considering packing it up and heading further north where things are still real. Is there anywhere left in this state that’s still real or is this town officially rotten?
