Accessible Georgia?
My friend and I want to fulfil a decades-old dream to travel to Sakartvelo and get to know the people, soak up the history, culture and landscape as well as the food and drink, of course. We’re aiming for late August 2026.
Unfortunately we’ve left it a bit late in many ways and my friend is now limited to wheelchair travel in many situations thanks to a rough ride with MS over the last few years.
Still, he is tough as nails, always up for a laugh and not an ounce of self-pity. So yeah, he wants to get as much as possible out of the trip as I do. We won’t be hiking or anything like that, but short distances are ok on foot. Otherwise I am guessing for longer trips we’ll need a driver with a car that can take a wheelchair along, right?
What advice and caution would you give us for making the most of a 5-day visit bearing in mind the above accessibility issues? (Yes 5 days is ridiculously short but more would be too much to ask of his stamina and it’s definitely better than nothing).
