# 1 Week Post-Op Lip Lift – Mexico City

I’m officially 1 week post-op from my lip lift and wanted to share my experience since reading other posts here helped me decide to get the procedure.

Location: Mexico City, Mexico
Hospital: Angeles del Pedregal Hospital

# Why I chose a lip lift

Last year I got lip filler because I wanted to see how fuller lips would look on me. I loved the look, but instead of continuing with filler I decided to get a lip lift since I prefer a more permanent surgical option.

Before surgery my left side of my lip sat slightly lower than my right, so my surgeon also corrected that asymmetry.

He hid the sutures inside my nostrils and used internal and dissolvable stitches, which I really liked.

# Why I chose this surgeon

I did several consultations with different plastic surgeons but this surgeon stood out the most. The consultation was the best by far. He has a really calm, confident, and knowledgeable presence.

He’s:

* Verified on [RealSelf](https://www.realself.com/dr/jose-telich-mexico-city-mexico)
* Certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery (CMCPER)

He didn’t have a ton of before/after photos online, but my intuition told me to go with him and I’m really glad I did.

I also found this Reddit post from someone who went to him which helped me decide:

# Consultation & Payment

* The consultation can be paid through PayPal.
* There is a 10% down payment required to secure your surgery date.
* The remaining balance is paid after the surgery (I used my Visa card for this).

# Hospital & Hotel

* The hospital was amazing at Angeles del Pedregal Hospital.
* I stayed at Camino Real Pedregal, which is literally connected to the hospital through a first-floor walkway—super convenient.

# Surgery Day (Day 1)

* Surgery scheduled for 10 AM; arrived 30 minutes early.
* Surgeon reviewed everything again and mapped out the lift on my lip.
* Numbed with lidocaine + adrenaline (the worst part!).
* Procedure took \~1 hour, total time in hospital \~1.5 hours.
* Minimal discomfort at the end; surgeon cleaned and bandaged the area.

Prescriptions:

* Antibiotics (every 12 hours)
* Pain medication similar to ibuprofen (every 9 hours)

After surgery:

* Went back to hotel, ate dinner, drank water
* 30 minutes of red light therapy
* Showered carefully without getting face wet
* Slept

# Traveling home (Day 2)

* Flew home the morning after surgery (2 flights, 9 AM – 9 PM travel).
* Did red light therapy before the flight, during layover, and after arriving home.
* Applied ointment and cleaned the area during travel.
* Took arnica before and after surgery to reduce swelling.

# Days 3–7

* Red light therapy: 30 minutes, 3x per day
* Cleaned incision and applied ointment 2x per day
* Mostly rested

# 1 Week Update

* Upper lip is still slightly stiff but improving daily
* A few ends of dissolvable stitches sticking out: surgeon said I can trim, tug gently with tweezers if ready, or wait another week
* Scars already look great; coworker couldn’t even see them

# Overall

* Super happy with results
* Thrilled with recovery and experience
* Already thinking about going back for more procedures

My scars already look great. I even asked a coworker if she could see them and she said no, which made me laugh. Iʻve been masking up everyday when I go outside and utilizing antibiotic ointment, spf, and ScarAWAY silicone gel for my scar treatment + red light therapy 3x a day.

I’m super happy with my results already and couldn’t be more thrilled. Ask me anything!
