Ex-HFT C++ dev looking to return after a year of trading
Hi folks,
I’m a C++ developer with about 7 years of experience working at HFT firms and hedge funds, mainly building trading infrastructure. About a year ago I left my job to trade full-time. Financially it worked out well, I started with around 2 Cr and grew it to about 9 Cr (a bit lower now after the recent market moves). But trading full-time has been mentally exhausting, and I’ve realized I really miss building systems and writing C++.
When I left my job, my compensation was around 1.2 Cr. I'm really good at writing C++ systems.
A few years ago, during an interview process at Quantbox, their CTO mentioned he was “personally impressed by my coding skills, especially the GitHub projects I had shared.” My skills have improved a lot in recent years, but need to brush up because of 1 year break.
I’m now thinking about getting back into an HFT or hedge fund C++ developer role. I would appreciate a feedback and knows firms that are hiring or can share leads
Thanks!
