Need Advice on Possible CMPI

Long story short - my 3 month old has had watery stools anywhere from 3 - 6 times per day for the last week. Messaged doctor and ended up scheduling an appt for yesterday due to two specks of blood in one of his diapers. Only other symptom is temp that has gotten as high as 100.1 but has leveled out.

Doctor thinks it’s not viral due to not improving yet, and wants me to go dairy free to see if it’s a cow milk protein intolerance. Based on what I’ve read on symptoms for that, that would be a huge stretch. He is a very happy baby has never shown signs of anything off until the diarrhea started.

Has anyone gone though this before? I am open to trying dairy free but am not excited about it, and feel like we leaped to that quickly. Have people had babies with diarrhea this long that resolved on its own?
