[Seiko] Anyone tired of purposefully tiered products?
Seiko have deployed a clear no cannibalization policy in which they will purposefully "maim" a watch to not get sales from another in its line.
Credor is basically the perfect seiko, thin, great finishing, everything we would want in a watch, too elegant though for a sports watch.
Grand Seiko is their sport line collection, but every single watch is too thick.
Seiko used make amazing products, but now they're purposefully "nerfed". Either they're made thicker, they add the silly Seiko 5 logo, they'll discontinue a line and reintroduce it with the seiko 5 line. They've basically stopped releasing god tier products like the SARB series, the SKX series, and I'm unaware of what else they've discontinued.
It feels like every Seiko you buy today you're compromising on something that previous seikos had. Say the 62mas series. Why is the SPB453 such much larger than the original? Even the original reissue is thicker for some reason.
I'm not sure if all of this is done on purpose, but Seiko has definitely lost its DNA and no longer offers amazing products like they did before. Are all great companies just destined for enshittification?
