USB stick not detected (am I cooked?)

Hi, I own a 128 gb Kingston usb stick on which I stored pretty much all the pictures I took in the past years. The thing was working fine until a couple days ago my MacBook stopped detecting it while it was still plugged in, and it has been undetectable by all my pcs ever since (yes, Windows too). I tried using some data recovery softwares such as iCare Recovery Free and MiniTool Power data recovery, but it remains undetected by those as well. Be honest: is it completely dead? Is there a way I can get my photos back by myself without spending hundreds and hundreds of euros?
