Young therapist

Rant - No advice wanted :snoo_shrug:

25 year old therapist here 👋🏽 and fresh out of grad school and I just wanted to say, it’s super discouraging to hear others say that people my age are too young to be clinicians. I went through the same two years of graduate school and clinical hours just like everyone else. I’ve provided services for those ages 17 to age 70. I also have a ton of life experience in the short 25 years which has led me to become a deeply insightful and wise individual. I’m not saying that I don’t have much to learn, but I can say that I have learned a lot so far. I don’t understand how my age could stop me from being an effective therapist. The idea that every therapist has to be wise and 40+ is super limiting when it comes to representation in the field. If anything, our field should be more diversified then it is now. People have the right to choose a clinician based on their background but to try to exclude young clinicians from this field entirely is ignorant and does more harm than good.
