After 13 years, I (also) finally found my migraine trigger
so i have had migraines since 2013 but luckily they don’t happen frequently and last no more than 6-8 hours.
so i have migraines with aura, and i get my aura almost daily but they don’t end up converting into a full blown migraine. so for the last 5-6 years, i just tried to relax myself in a dark space whenever the aura came on. however, some auras were so strong that even after doing everything, they would still convert into a full blown migraine.
i always wondered what caused them, and they were so random and had ruined some of my plans too. so i was always cautious of what caused them.
they felt related to less sleep, and dehydration, but one random day while i was riding my bike on a scorching sunny day. a huge aura came infront of me and i became unable to see the road ahead. the aura was so strong that i was pretty sure that i was f*cked and wanted to head home asap.
however, i was feeling very hot that day. i took out my water bottle while i was having this aura. i took off my helmet and poured the entire water bottle on the top of my head, under the sun. all my clothes got wet and everyone was staring at me. however, something unbelievable happened, i saw the aura converting from a whole blob to a mere dot and in a few minutes, completely gone. i had never seen my aura disappear like that in the past 13 years. it blew my mind basically.
i continued balancing my body temperature ever since and all my auras have vanished infront of my eyes. i even continued this in winters, whenever the aura came on, i instantly knew what part of my body felt cold and i instantly covered it up. especially my ears and feet in winters tend to bring aura, so i keep an earmuff with me at all times during winter.
this has been such a huge victory for me, and i am really glad that i found this randomly. also, i just read another post in this subreddit, where the temperature right after their exercise was causing
their migraines. so this very much feels similar to their experience of finding their trigger. also, this could be related to hyperthyroidism, not sure. nevertheless, i am happy i found it. and i hope yall can find your triggers too!!
