Does MiniMax 2.5 actually do anything for you guys, or is it just a chatbot unless you wire everything yourself?

Help

I keep seeing people hype MiniMax M2.5 as “finally real agents,” but my experience so far is… pretty mixed.

I’m using M2.5, followed the docs, and I expected “agent behavior” (tools + actions + workflows). But most of the time it still feels like:

- regular chat responses, or

- “I can’t do that,” unless I spell out every step.

So I’m wondering if I’m missing something obvious.

For those of you who get real results with MaxClaw:

  1. What’s the minimum config that makes it stop being a chatbot and start taking actions?

(permissions? tool registry? desktop connector? message platform webhook?)

  1. Are you running it local desktop or cloud/VPS — and does that change reliability a lot?

  2. What are the 2–3 workflows that actually feel “agentic” in practice?

(e.g., Telegram daily brief, Gmail triage, browser tasks, scheduled automations)

  1. How do you handle memory/consistency without building a whole RAG system?

Would love to hear what’s working (and what isn’t) for you.
