Underwhelmed yet again

DISCUSSION

I'm glad that we were able to at least do a couple of trades, but it's disappointing that we weren't able to get a first in this market and/or do more trades at all, especially when you consider the value that other sellers were getting.

St. Louis - come out with two first round draft picks (and a very good one in the Islanders 2026) for Brayden Schenn and Justin Faulk who are 33 and 34 years old. And it's not like they're lighting it up either. Schenn is a -23 with a whopping 28 points on the season that mirrors the production of Evander Kane. In fact, they would've come out with an additional two first rounders had Parayko been willing to accept a trade.

Calgary Flames - 3 2nd round picks all in 2026 for Mackenzie Weegar. They will own this draft.

Winnipeg Jets - They traded 2 defencemen that are literally 7th and 8th dmen to Buffalo for a 2nd round pick, a 4th round pick, and a first round top prospect in the AHL.

Maple Leafs - Get a 1st round pick for 3rd liner Nick Roy

Chicago Blackhawks - get a 1st round pick from EDM for taking on Andrew Mangiapane's contract

Predators - get a 2nd round pick for 4th liner Michael Mccaron

At some point, you have to question whether no one wants to do business with Alvin and Rutherford, if they are absolutely terrible negotiators, or if there are some other factors at play, because the value we got relative to the above are very underwhelming IMO.
