[hoo] Should I read HOO?

Discussion

I have an confession to make.

While I love PJO books and this is my favourite fandom of all time that I still love to this day... I still haven't read HOO. It's not that I don't read anything at all, I'm just so disappointed about everything I have heard about it and when I tried to read it back in the day (2012?), I just didn't enjoy it. Back then I had serious reading block though and that might play a part, I had to read a lot for school projects and for college etc etc.

I have read bits and pieces here and there, I have read some parts.

First of all: I'm Clarisse fan and I was super disappointed that Clarisse wasn't really in the books.

Everything also felt so shallow. The past seemed to be ignored.

Then I didn't like the idea of Roman camp and gods having roman counterparts. It just made everything seem so messy. I don't even like the idea that all the gods (greek, roman, egypt, norse) coexisting all together.

I didn't care for the new characters. I don't like that we still don't get to see and know what it's like to grow up in the Camp Half-Blood and that we don't get to see the relationships, memories and thoughts of veteran campers. Or do we? How much Annabeth tells us about her growing up in the camp?

Everything that I hear about Piper or Leo doesn't make me excited to learn more. I hate that the son of Mars/Ares doesn't want to be son of Mars/Ares and that he is completely something opposite than his godly parent. I was already fed up with Rick's hatred for Ares in PJO. It just seems so childish to me.

Everything that I hear about HOO makes me think that Rick Riordan isn't that good of a writer. But should I give it a chance? What do you like about HOO books? What new and exciting it gives to older PJO fans? I'm not that into Percabeth so that's not enough.
