Why doesn't my bonemeal work on my sapling?

I have built a wood farm, I need to place and grow sapling very quicky due to the TNT duping. I can place the sapling done with the auto clicker, but I cannot bonemeal it. This is a Minecraft realms with only performance mods on it, does anyone know a fix?
