I use to dislike children, but after working retail for a good bit, they started to warm up to me
*sorry this is long I like to yap and talk about life stories lmao*
My whole life, growing up from my teenage years, going to college and before I got my first job, I always disliked children. Before I use think they were annoying, obnoxious, etc. whenever I was in public and see a child like cry, throw a tantrum whatever bad scenario. I mean of course seeing that or your own child doing that is embarrassing and annoying but in general I never had the patience to interact with children. Even my little cousin from my aunt, I always showed care because they are family but never had the patience to play, interact, and spent time with my cousin usually it will be my brother or my parents showing more love at the time. It all changed when I got my first job in retail. I stopped going to college because I wasn’t happy with my major (computer science lol) and had to gain the encouragement to explain to my parents why I did that because they are very traditional with going to school then getting a career job but surprisingly they were very chill about it. Guess they understood more that nowadays it’s possible to be successful without or continuing college so they were cool about it but didn’t want me to sit on my ass at home so I looked for work and started in retail in 2023. The more I was working i was interacting with lots of parents and children and at first it kinda felt overwhelming because with me not having the patience with kids but the more I did it, the more it kinda felt comfortable and I saw more of the innocence of children with their parents and my heart started to open up more for that. Till now I’m still in retail due to some financial reasons and had health problems that I’m recovering from so haven’t had a straight path to a career job but I still have high hopes for that, every time whenever I interact with a parent and their children it’s super friendly and my heart just warms up whenever children interact saying hi, or them being shy whenever I try to talk to them. Same with my little cousin she’s a bit older now like in middle school I think but from a couple years ago I always enjoy talking to her and just being like a big brother to her despite us being cousins. As well as being a father has never crossed my mind at all before but now if I ever have the chance and whenever it’s the right time I’d love to be a father. Never would have thought I do a whole 180 flip on my opinion with having kids/interacting with parents and their kids. Anywho, what about you guys, what’s your guys’ opinion on it?
