526 Baltic St, Brooklyn, NY 11217 - Looks Good, Is Actually A Terrible Value
The building management at 526 Baltic St, Brooklyn, NY 11217 is abysmal. Many things:
- 526 Baltic St management is not present or easily contactable. The after hours line typically has zero solutions or paths to provide assistance. A locked out resident once slept in the lobby all night until she could finally reach someone in the morning to get back into her apartment.
There was a time when we had a terrible outage and management did not acknowledge the incident at all for 12 hours. All units had no heat, hot water, or electricity and people had been calling all day. The only person on site to ever help with anything is a maintenance man but he has limited availability and you're (reasonably so) not given his contact information in case of emergencies.
For many residents, the only time they provide timely responses is if you're withholding rent payments.
-
If you attempt to hold management accountable, they blackmail you saying that they'll put you on a special list so that no other apartments in NYC will ever approve you for an apartment. Ari, the building contact, is particularly hostile
-
526 Baltic St is not secure. Packages are consistently stolen with no accountability or action taken by management. They refuse to pull footage or cooperate with you, even if you've experienced a high value item theft or have had multiple items stolen.
-
They don't make it a point to provide you pertinent information upon move in. Many residents had no idea about the portal for rental payments or where to submit maintenance requests.
Additionally:
-
The walls are very thin, I can hear my neighbors television.
-
In the summer, the hallways smell terrible. Likely a result of the nearby canal. The surrounding street areas are constantly filthy.
-
Sometimes the heat doesn't work in the living room or bedrooms!
For the cost, you could live in a building with adequate management and one that is closer to the train.
