I told a friend I liked her. She’s been avoiding ever since
I (20F) had developed feelings for my friend (20F). I specifically told her “I wanted to remain friends and we can talk about this if she feels comfortable. I also apologized if I overstepped.” She told me “it’s okay and nothing will change.” She also said we can talk about this in person.
Mind you I live in another city for college and only come home for breaks. I felt like she didn’t have to leave me hanging for months and we could’ve been talked over the phone. After I told her, this guy (17M) who likes her has been checking my profile multiple times. I started to get nervous but I comforted myself with the idea that my friend and him are not dating. She told me they stopped talking. However fast forward our mutual friend, Malik had told me that he thinks they are together based off of their posts. So I checked their posts and it looks like they are dating. Now I feel embarrassed because my friend, Aniyah told me they don’t talk anymore.
It’s like everything changed. She doesn’t text me as much as she used to. We used to get together when I come in town now she’s not reaching out. I feel awkward and upset not because of the rejection but because I think I lost a friend. I am uncomfortable with her now boyfriend checking my pfp. I didn’t do this with any malicious intent.
I told her about my feelings because I didn’t want it to manifest into anything weird. Like I become possessive or obsessed with her. I told her respectfully. I feel so bad guys.
