“Good News” For Ex-Christians

Personal Story

Hey. I understand the initial pain and fear, wondering if I’m going down “the road to hell” by not believing in a faith that makes no sense and has definitely been modified over time. Also being spiritually isolated from communities I grew up in. But that doesn’t necessarily mean God, love, the afterlife, and ethics don’t exist. They might just be different in reality than the Christian definitions.

But for me, leaving Christianity and losing most of my religious beliefs (eternal hellfire, total depravity, human-deicide sacrifice, consubstantiation [a practice that gave me herpes drinking from a common communion glass, lol] intense “purity morals”, a Trinitarian God, faith in Jesus = saved) was probably the best return I gave on a bill of goods, that I was fed to buy since I was a toddler, that I could ever f*cking refund. In fact I thank God for opening my eyes.

I’d probably never learn sensual dance, party with college kids my age, date around and have ethical sex, and even explore my sexuality with cute guys my age if I didn’t drop the “good Christian” lifestyle I had before.

I just wish I could personally go up to every agnostic, atheist, and LGBTQ+ person I told was living or believing in a wrong practice, that they’re not going to be barbecued alive forever, and that they’re deeply loved. And give them a huge fucking hug and coffee if they’re comfortable.

Sorry, if there was a bit of vitriol in there 😅

(I posted this from a previous reply of mine because it’s good enough as its own post, lol)
