MacOS

Question

Recently booted up my old MacBook Air 6,1 (mid 2013 11 inch) that I haven't even moved since switching to Samsung devices back in 2018. The OS is Big Sur 11.7. something

I found out I can use open core legacy patcher to run a newer unsupported OS. But I've also seen people talking about switching to lenux or some other type of OS I guess.

I've been out of the apple world for a while now but switching back and would like to be able to use my current mac instead of buying a newer model.

What's the best way I can get my old MacBook running with a newer more updated OS? Should I go with OCLP or run something else? What's some pros and cons I guess of each way? Mac won't be used heavily. Just for some general internet use on a laptop and maybe some YouTube or hulu streaming. I do plan on upgrading the SSD here soon so running something shouldn't be an issue.
