The Change I Cannot Forgive.
Tw: miscarriage.
I am so upset that they chose to remove her miscarriage. And I am so upset because the things that the show runner has said in response to being asked are disgusting. She felt it was "too dark" and "too morbid" and that the character would never be able to recover.
This makes me so, so, so angry. Because when I had a miscarriage, the only time I got pregnant in 10 years of trying, the one time I ever tried to talk about it, my Father told me "We don't talk about that kind of thing." And I never talk about it. And that's exactly what the show is doing too. We're taking this really important topic, a thing that happens to so many women, and we're saying it's too dark, and it's too morbid to be shown as something happening in a show. It doesnt fit the tone. So we don't talk about that kind of thing.
And it feels really personal to me. I could have, eventually, gotten on board with swapping out Michael for Michaela (though I cannot forgive the naming choice). I would have eventually gotten over whatever was up with season 3's costumes... I even probably could have been ok with not having her miscarry, if they hadn't done what they did to her anyway, if the reason given wasn't "Oh we don't talk about that kind of thing."
Someone else has probably made a similar post, but I just also really needed to say it. And I can't say it out loud so...
