Live arena seasons for newer players

I've been playing for around 2 years and so not a really a newbie.

Highest speed 391. And just about got together an ok supersonic set in mid 300s and a couple of decent nuker stone skins ect.

Around 3500 live arena points.

In normal times I can at least compete and win a few live arena matches and it worth playing. When ever it goes into session it feels like being actively punished for trying to play. Did my 5 matches. Lowest I faced was 7000 or so points the highest was in the 15k range. EVERYONE out sped, striped through the highest resists stone skin or someb simialr I have and cannot land my buff strips. (ACC and Res in the 600 hundreds) Normally this is fine (I lose on one or two of these) but as soon as seasonal play starts its all and everytime.

Am I missing some tactic for seasonal play (other than play for another few years and get lucky and win the equipment rolls) or do I just stop live arena when seasons start?

(For something that so pushed by missions and quests and now the only other game mode you can do during multi battles it's sucks to do for large chunks of time)
