I skipped the $300 "Safe Queens." Roast my immigrant budget rotation.

SOTC

I’ve been in the US for a year now, and my knife pile is finally starting to look like a real rotation. I just added a Morakniv Kansbol today to wrap up my outdoor kit. My rule is pretty basic: if I buy a knife, I’m going to use it. No "safe queens" allowed.

Here’s the logic on why I skipped the usual $300 hype blades:

For the woods, I actually prefer the Kansbol over something legendary like the Fallkniven F1. The F1 is a beast, but for slicing food or doing fine carvings, the Mora's grind is just better. It's surgical. I also keep a bright orange Companion as my "beater", it’s stainless, I can get it wet, and if I drop it in the leaves, I can actually find it.

The two Kronos blades follow what I call "PSA Logic." I’m a fan of Palmetto State Armory because they give you high-end specs without the "brand name" tax, and these feel the same. The Steadfast in the middle is a brutal fixed blade that’s actually comfortable to hold. The QuickDraw is a bronze OTF; since they're legal in North Carolina, I wanted one I could actually use daily without crying when it gets its first scratch.

For EDC, I carry the Kershaw Misdirect. It’s so thin I forget it’s there, which is exactly what you want in a professional setting.

I know, I know, I should probably just buy a PM2 and be done with it. But as a new immigrant, I’m trying to prove you can get a great setup without spending a month’s rent. My "end game" is probably an ESEE 4 in S35VN for the heavy stuff, and then I’m (hopefully) done.

What am I missing?
