One thing I strongly believe in is growth mindset in chess training.

Recently I reviewed the rating progress of *all of my students* over the past 14 months. I compiled their ratings from different months (Jan 2025 → Mar 2026). The names are hidden due to privacy.

Across these students:

• Total rating gain: 1792 points
• Average gain per student: 149 points
• 5 students gained more than 200 points
• 1 student gained more than 500 points

These are not hundreds of students. These are only students who trained directly with me in 1-1 classes during this period. I only work with 15 students at max (It was 8-9 before my IM title as I was more focused on my title)

Many people ask why my training fees are higher compared to other coaches. The main reason is simple — I cannot accept many students.

I prefer working with a small number of serious students who are genuinely interested in improving in chess.

The main point is this: with the right student mindset and the right coaching approach, significant growth is possible.

As a coach, you also have to be selective. Choosing students who are interested in learning and willing to work consistently makes a big difference.

My goal as a coach is simple:

➡️ Help students think better over the board
➡️ Build good decision-making habits
➡️ Create a long-term improvement system
