Is ILR for dependant children in UK tied to both parents (main applicant and dependant)?

Hi,

We moved to the UK in July 2022 on Skilled worker visa (5 years ILR route) with my wife as main applicant along with our 2 children (born 2016 and 2020). Pretty soon after moving to UK, I got a job in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and ever since I have worked there while visiting my wife and children frequently (every month or so).

Now in July 2027 , we intend to apply for ILR for the main applicant (i.e. my wife) and my children. I have heard (as per link at end of post) that in order for dependant children to get ILR both parents must have settled status, which is not the case, as I have been working abroad in KSA.

My wife and children spend more than 270 days per year in UK every since landing there in 2022. I know that I do not qualify for ILR but in above circumstances would my wife and children be eligible for ILR without me? Appreciate your help

"As both parents must have settled for children to be eligible, if a partner cannot apply for ILR until later any children will also have to wait and apply with them."
