What medicine would be good for an at home emergency kit?

I'm putting together an emergency trauma kit, specifically to treat wounds like gunshots, broken bones, or big cuts. I've got some ideas for stuff to get but I don't know what to do for medicine. Specifically for the pain. I think ideally an emergency kit could use one of those green whistles first responders use in the Australia. It's like a single use anesthetic inhaler you just keep puffing until you can get to a hospital. But obviously we can't get that kind of thing.
