Mista broke my heart in a way that won’t leave me. I 
wasn’t even looking for him. My friend Vicky and I had gone into the medical area to visit a little pug and he was the only other animal in the kennels.

This senior boy has been through so much. His body is frail, hunched, and underweight. You can see the muscle has wasted from years of struggle. His legs have pressure sores. His left front paw is swollen. His teeth are rotted down to almost nothing. His coat is dull and every movement is stiff and painful.

Even with all of this, he is trying. He is eating and drinking. He is reaching for connection even in a place that is loud, overwhelming, and unfamiliar. The cruelest part is that he is trapped, alone, and the shelter has scheduled him for euthanasia today.

This is a cat who deserves a hero. A warm bed. Gentle hands. Medical care. A life where he does not have to struggle just to survive. He does not deserve to end like this in a cold kennel ignored and forgotten.
