Rattlesnakes in garden

Hello,

Does anyone have any tricks on deterring rattle snakes? A shovel is only a reasonable answer if I see them. Tried the snake away stuff but it loses its potency once it gets wet.

Anyone have luck with removing mulch and placing sharper rock down?

I’m open to suggestions, I can’t risk having my kids bit.
