I think my manager is trying to make me quit
I work at Dollar General, and I’ve noticed a troubling pattern with my manager. Over the past few weeks, my hours have been drastically cut down to just one day a week. I spoke to him about it, and he said he could rearrange things for next week, but this is only a short-term change. Meanwhile, I’ve also noticed that he and one of the employees regularly smoke marijuana in the work parking lot—this happens in broad daylight, around families and kids, and it’s obvious when they come back smelling of it. On top of that, he hires friends—people with red flags—like someone who only worked a week and quit, or another involved in a counterfeit incident—yet they stay on( that guy was fired eventually) , while my hours are cut. I spoke to the assistant manager—who’s been there for three years—and she tried to bring this to his boss’s attention. Instead, his boss reflected it back on her, insisting she talk directly to him about it—despite his previous actions showing he has no intention to change. I admit I’m not perfect—I do sometimes use my phone at work—but I get my tasks done. My manager even told me I sometimes use my phone, but I still complete my work. This isn’t about laziness; it’s about a manager cutting hours, showing favoritism, and retaliating. I’m sharing this because the situation is unfair, and it needs to be known.
Btw, hes supposed to work from 6am-5pm and ALWAYS doesn't stay till 5.
