I'm looking to understand my responsibilities as Juno more than what I currently do.

Question or Discussion

I'm a returning player after five years away from the game. I saw that Overwatch was rebranding away from Overwatch 2 back to just Overwatch, decided to play some games, and just like that I'm back and grinding ranked. I didn't really know what to expect playing 5v5, and while it's been an adjustment I think I've done alright.

In Overwatch 1 I was a D.va main and just a tank main in general, though I put a good amount of time into support and DPS as well. I don't like the idea of solo tanking, so while I still main D.va in 6v6, in 5v5 I've decided to main support. In OW1 I played a good amount of support, mainly Brig, Mercy, Bap, Lucio, and a little bit of Zen and Anna. Upon returning I tried out the new heroes and had the most fun playing Juno, so that's who I want to play the most and improve on.

I did my support placements and had some pretty bad games. A few leavers, and a few games with tanks who had very little time on the game in general. I went 3-7 and was places into gold which felt terrible considering I usually hovered between high diamond to mid masters in OW1. I've grinded back to mid diamond though.

Currently my biggest issue on Juno feels like positioning. I've always felt like staying alive is the most important thing, and throwing away my life as a support isn't as important as overextending to try and save an overextended DPS. However I will overextend if it means trying to save a tank. I usually pick the perk that allows shorter cooldown on torpedoes and the one that allows for full auto, though I know a lot of people prefer the triple jump.

I'm also curious about her ult. I feel like based on what it does it should be really impactful, though maybe not as much as transcendence or beat drop. I pop it during big team fights, usually with and against other ults, but it just never seems to have that big burst of we should win because of this that other support ults do. Am I doing something wrong? Should I be using it more aggressively or passively?

Finally, I know she has damage falloff based on range, does that apply to her healing as well. I usually play relatively close to the frontline. Further away than a Brig would be or a Moira, but closer than an Anna. Should I make an adjustment there?

Thanks in advance.
