Wife says the mason did a bad job on our block wall, am I missing something
Were building a new house and the foundation and block work just got finished. My wife has been going over it with a fine tooth comb and shes convinced the mason did a sloppy job because the mortar joints arent perfectly straight and uniform. She says they look wavy in some spots and that the lines dont line up the way they should. I honestly cant tell if shes being too picky or if theres actually a problem here. I know masonry isnt supposed to be perfect like drywall but I also dont want to ignore something that could affect the structure later. The wall itself feels solid and the blocks are level as far as I can tell. But the aesthetic of it matters to her and shes worried itll look bad even after stucco or whatever finish we put over it. Were planning on having the exterior finished with some kind of siding or stone veneer eventually anyway. So does the look of the raw block matter at all or is she worrying about something that will get covered up. Also if the joints are actually bad could that lead to water or structural issues down the line. Trying to figure out if we need to say something to the builder.
