This weekend I have to sit my kid (10) down and tell him his dad passed away and his side of the family doesn’t want to contact us to confirm and won’t let him go to the funeral to say goodbye.

I Have to sit my 10 year old down and tell them their dad passed away and his side of the family hasn’t contacted us to confirm. They think it’s my fault for his death but truly that man was an alcoholic his whole life and he was much older than me (14 years older). His dad and I separated about 7 months ago, and before that we were constantly arguing and fighting. He moved out when I said no more and left to his mother’s house. Just recently started rearranging the entire apartment and throwing away old stuff that needed to be gone. I’m not sure how I can approach this really complicated conversation with my kid. But I will have my best friend who is their god mother there along with my other friend who they sees everyday. Including a therapist who can have a mutual understanding of what my kids emotions will be. I’m just afraid my kid will end up blaming me and start to hate me. I don’t know what to do.
